Sauna Benches

Sauna benches are one of the most frequently used parts of a sauna. Over time, constant contact with heat, moisture and everyday use can leave the wood stained, rough or worn. We assess the condition of the benches and decide whether they can be restored or should be replaced. Sanding, treatment or new benches can make the sauna more comfortable and give the interior a fresh appearance.

Sauna Stones

Sauna stones are an important part of a traditional sauna heater. They absorb and distribute heat and create steam when water is poured over them. With use, stones can crack, crumble or become worn, which may affect airflow and how the heater distributes heat. We remove the old stones, check their condition and replace them with suitable new stones when necessary. Correct stone placement also helps maintain proper airflow around the heater.

Wall & Ceiling Panels

The walls and ceiling create most of the visual impression inside a sauna. Damaged, cracked or heavily discoloured wood can make the whole space look old and neglected. We replace panels that are no longer in good condition and install suitable sauna wood for a clean and consistent finish. This is especially useful when the existing panels cannot be restored through surface treatment alone.

Sanding

Wooden sauna surfaces can become rough, dark or marked as they age. Dirt and previous treatments can also build up on the surface, making the wood look tired. Sanding removes the worn upper layer and creates a smoother, cleaner surface. It is also an important preparation step when the wood will later be waxed or oiled.

Waxing

Sauna wood is exposed to regular heat, humidity and contact with water and sweat. A suitable wax treatment can help protect the surface and maintain its appearance. We first prepare the wood and then apply a sauna-appropriate wax to create a protective finish. This can help the surface stay cleaner and look well maintained for longer.

Oiling

Untreated or older sauna wood can gradually become dry and lose its natural tone. Oiling helps condition the surface and bring out the character of the wood while providing additional protection. We prepare the surface before applying a suitable sauna oil, helping the wood stay in better condition and giving the sauna a warmer, refreshed appearance.

Cleaning

Regular sauna use leaves behind more than just visible dust. Sweat, dirt and other residue can collect on benches, walls and floors and gradually affect the appearance of the wood. Our professional cleaning focuses on these high-use areas and removes accumulated dirt and residue. A clean sauna is not only more pleasant to use but also easier to maintain and inspect for possible damage.

Frequently asked about Saunas

A rough rule (used by many sauna-heater suppliers) is about 1 kW per m³ of sauna volume.

- Small sauna 3–13 m³ → 3.5 - 9 kW heater.

- Medium sauna 9–16 m³ → 6 - 10.5 kW heater.

- Large sauna 12–28 m³ → 12 - 18 kW heater.

- Very large sauna 15 -40 m³ → 18 - 30 kW heaer.

If you have glass surface or any uninsulated surface you will need more power.
Each uninsulated square meter is multiplied by 1.2 and the result is added to the basic volume. The volume of a log or barrel sauna is multiplied by 1.5.

Yes, but we recommend you choose from our modular indoor saunas or outdoor saunas. Building a properly working sauna is not as simple as it seems and a lot of things can go wrong.

Olivine diabase is dense, stores a lot of heat, and withstands repeated heating/cooling cycles.  It’s the traditional sauna-stone material used in all saunas. Olivine diabase comes in many shapes and forms depending on use-case.

Cracked Sauna Stones 5 - 10 cm
Use these for electric heater. It’s the traditional sauna-stone material, ideal as the main stone mass inside electric heaters.

Cracked Sauna Stones 10 - 15 cm
Use these for wood-burning heating. Thicker mass withstands more intense heat coming from burning wood and helps store it more efficiently.

Rounded Sauna Stones 5–10 cm
These are especially good for certain electric sauna heaters i.e. Huum Heaters(or for the top layer in electric heaters). Their rounded shape ensures better steam when you pour water (softer, more even löyly), and they fit well between heating elements in electric heaters.

Rounded Sauna Stones 10 - 15 cm
These are especially good for certain wood-burning sauna heaters i.e. Huum Heaters(or for the top layer in other wood-burning heaters). Their rounded shape ensures more pleasant steam when you pour water (softer, more even löyly).

Tulikivi White Decorative Sauna Stones

These are decorative only (e.g. for aesthetic finish on top of the heater stones), not suitable as the main functional stones. They can complement the look but should not replace sauna-rated stones.

For well-sized electric heaters, typical sauna heat-up time is about 30 - 60 minutes to reach ~70 - 90 °C for a standard indoor sauna.

Wood-burning saunas may take longer (often 60–90 minutes) to heat up, depending on the size, stove, and insulation.

Depending on the size of your sauna, the amount of stone inside of the heater, sauna insulation, ventilation, the exact time can vary depending on different factors as listed before.
